• My visual editor is gone. The tab is there – but nothing else – and I cannot even click into the dialogue box.

I have a clean install of Wp 3.8.1 and a clean install of the Avada theme 3.3.1.

    I am using NO plugins.

Chrome is attempting, and failing, to load two js files that are not in the WP download:

    wp-includes/js/tinymce/langs/en.js

    and

    wp-includes/js/tinymce/themes/advanced/langs/en.js

I renamed the first file from wp-includes/js/tinymce/langs/wp-langs-en.js so that it would work and then uploaded a new directory with the same file into wp-includes/js/tinymce/themes/advanced/langs/ …

This seems bizarre. I have many other wordpress sites and I have not had this problem before – any solution, other than messing with the core files like I have?

    Thanks!

  • Quite bizarre – we have code that works on an internal dev server just fine, but the visual editor dies a 404 death when deployed to our Stage or production servers. This was also a clean install of 3.8.1

There might be any server side restriction to render any script.

You may check that by enabling Firebug, a Firefox addon.

Most likely a javascript conflict with your theme if you really are running no plugins.
