Virus on my website? (5 posts)

A student approached me the other day and told me I have a virus on my classroom website hmstechnology.com. He said his mom uses Avast Antivirus at home.

I went home, visited my website, and Norton also says there is a virus on my website.

I was hoping anyone/everyone could help me with two things:

    1. Is there really a virus on my website?

    and

    2. If there is, how can I get rid of it without deleting my whole website and starting over?

    Thank you,

    Phil Larsen

    good luck

Wow, that appears to be a lot of work. I think my best bet is to scrap my site and start over with a new wordpress installation.

    Another question:

How can I stop this from happening in the future?

    stronger FTP password
    regularly scan your pc
and file monitor is a MUST it alerts u if there is a change in ur installation that u haven't made and also tells u which file is changed so if there is a malicious file added to the directory u can delete it right away

sucuri.net scans site for malware. I was told by someone that it will tell you which file(s) are corrupt. It might be worth a try before scrapping your whole site
