viewing text of content in full html

Hiya. I’ve noticed that the text option in my Twenty Eleven theme does not show in full html. For instance quotes (“, ‘) and dashes (-, –) show up like this rather than as their codes, and paragraph brakes just show up as empty spaces rather than the
code. I’d like to have versions of my posts that are in full code, and don’t want to have to go in and make the changes manually (this takes forever!!). Is there a way I can manipulate things to have my text area show up in full html code? Thank you for your time.
