I have been working with WordPress for about a year now, having come over from Movable Type.
I have been beating my head against the wall for days trying to figure out how to simply view the archives of a single category, and how to see them by month, year, etc. This seems like such a simple, basic need, and yet it's not possible in WordPress without some kind of hack.
I have searched the support, tried dozens of hacks and plugins, and have not yet found what I'm looking for. Is it right under my nose and I'm missing it?
For example: Imagine you're making a website called "Fruit" with a basic WordPress installation. When one visits the category "Apples" you get page with the most recent posts about Apples. Great! You can even click on "previous" and see previous "Apples" posts.
But if you're looking at "Apples", and click a month on the sidebar under "Archives", you get a listing of not just "Apple" category posts, but all categories including "Peaches", "Pears", "Oranges", etc.
This does not seem logical to me. Am I the only one that feels this way? Is there a simple way to do what I'm looking for?
