Video thumbnail links plugin

We do 8 embedded videos a day each with a few paragraphs of comment.
I would like to have a large block between header and content that would automatically find the last 8 posts, thumbnail the video or jpg, add the title and first x words and put them in two columns in that block which would be a link to the full single article.
I don’t yet know the TERM for that process. Any advice on to what plugin will do that?
