Very Slow WP (8 posts)

    Hello,

My Worpress has been very slow for almost 2 months. I thought it was Cloudflare slowing it down but disabling Cloudflare didn't solve the problem. My hosting provider says it has to be a problem with my .htaccess, as other pages that don't make part of WordPress are loading normally.

Do you have any idea how could I modify the .htaccess to solve the problem. The searches I've done online on the topic haven't been to relevant.

    Thanks!

Slow loading can be due to several reasons, not necessarily your .htaccess file. If it is due to that file, try to rename the file to something else and re-save permalinks. A new and correct file will be created automatically.
Can you post a link to your site?

I tried to rename the .htaccess but I was unable to access the site afterwards. How do I solve this, please?

Change the name of .htaccess back to what it was and see if you can access the site.

    Thanks!

I could re-access it, but it still slow. Not as slow as before, but still too slow.

I used a few tools to diagnose your site but none of them could access your site - timed out.
Can you try these trouble shooting steps:
    - deactivate all plugins and see if the problem persists. If it solves the problem, activate plugins one by one until you find the problematic one
    - revert to Twenty Twelve theme and see if the issue is theme-specific
    - delete any inactive plugins
    - reinstall WordPress manually from a freshly downloaded copy except wp-content. Do not overwrite files/ folders but delete them before reinstalling.
    - run the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php
Backup your site including database so that you can restore in case anything goes wrong.

As you are running an old version of WordPress, you may try updating to version 3.6 too.
