ok, i recently switched over to wordpress.org for my blog (www.chrisburke.ca) first off, when i came to wordpress.org to go to the forums, it asked me for my login information, and typed in the login info that i use when i go to edit my blog, and it said the user didnt exist, meanwhile, i log in with it every day to edit my site..

second, i've been using wordpress.org for about 2 months now (maybe a little less) and i know that people are visiting my site, becuase i'm getting comments and things like that, but yet, my stats still show that I've had 0 visitors to my site.. when i log into my admin by going to http://www.chrisburke.ca/wp-admin and type in my info, i have a spot that says stats, and when i click it, it wants me to type in my wordpress.com login information... which i do, and it just shows me the stats of my old site...

i'm very confused my wordpress.org, i love that i'm now able to edit my site and such, but what is with the confusion of login names, and why arent my stats being recorded???

I can't speak to the second issue, but I'm pretty sure that the first issue you're experiencing is that:

Your login information for your personal blog is for the WP installation on your hosting account. Whereas the discussion forum running at WordPress.org is running on the WP.org hosting account. And is different software.

Kind of like logging into your account at State Bank would require a different log in info. than logging into your account at City Bank.

thank you for the login help, that makes sense..

now back to the stats.. i notice when i go to my dashboard, and click on stats, at the top is says wordpress.com... that doesnt really make sense to me.. as this site is hosted with wordpress.org.. and then, there is an option to select my wordpress.org blog, or i can pick from the drop down, my wordpress.com blog... this doesnt make sense to me.. can someone please help.. i've included a screen shot to show you want i mean... please note that i am currently logged into my wordpress.org blog...

Just try not to lose site of the fact that wordpress.org and wordpress.com, while related, are two very different critters.

Your blog may indeed be self-hosted and running the software from here at .org, but that Stats plugin is made available by the good folks over at wordpress.com. It uses an API key from wordpress.com and it relies on services provided by them for the stats as well.
