VERTICAL SCROLLING one page layout type?

Hy guys, I downloaded and intalled the theme Responsive, I am working on the child theme Responsive-child and it was all good untill I tried to do a vertical scrolling of the home page.
It’s been a week and I’ve tried everything, I also asked my teacher to help but even he couldn’t figure it out: he tried to modify the javascript in the parent and to add some code in the footer.php and then in the head.php of the parent but nothing, he said that maybe something in the structure is preventing any javascript to work.
I can I create my vertical scrolling without touching or modifying the parent theme?
