vertical scaling

I’m using the Recent Posts FlexSlider on a homepage and it works really well aside form one strange thing.

When the slider scales down from full screen to say mobile the height of the overall space occupied by the slider stays the same. This means when viewing the slider on a mobile the page has a large space between the image and the bottom of the slider.

Is there a way to get around this so the slider height changes in line with the image?

I’m aware I could create more sliders of varying heights however this doesn’t seem like the best solution as this will increase the load time of the site.
