    Hello,

I use Admin Columns before 2.0 on a lot of websites with the sortorder plugin.

With the new version it takes a lot of time until the postings
in the admin panel all posts list are loaded (50 seconds for a site with 70 listed posts per page). If I go to the next post-listing-page or 1 page back it takes also the same long time again and again.

In the old version it was not slower to load these pages as without the plugin – they showed up immediately without any waiting time.

If I turn the plugin off – it’s as fast as always – so it must be the plugin which slows everything down.

I use around 10 Custom Fields and only the sortorder option (no filter)

I hope you can help – because so slow the new version is useless for me as I scroll a lot through the posting-list-pages.

    Thanks

I will have a look at it and come back to you.

I have noticed this as well, thought it was just my site.

Is this true for all posts types or just ‘posts’ ?

I use the plugin only for posts – so I don’t really know.

I found the culprit. I didn’t notice the decrease in performance when running on a local host on nginx. But you were definitely right about the performance issue after measuring. Apparently it’s was rebuilding all columns on each call. Hopefully the latest version got rid of this.

Please try the latest build from GitHub and let me know if it’s improved or any other issues arise.

How can I test it? Must I delete the old version and upload the zip?

Or is then any data lost?

No there won’t be any data lost. You can remove the old one, and upload this 2.0.2beta.

Works perfect – thank you very much.

    I have one more question:

In the old version it was possible to tick every column on or off.

That was very convinient. In the help text I still find:

“You can switch columns on or off by clicking on the checkbox. This will show or hide each column heading.”

But the checkbox is not there anymore.

Now I can only remove columns – but to get them back I have to add them again.

Good to know it fixed the performance issue.

    old version
The number of columns was getting to large and was getting in the way of usability. So we implemented this new UI. The option to toggle columns on/off has been removed.

I will fix the text “”You can switch columns…” aswell.

For me, it is taking lots of time when hitting the Update button to save the changes.

    Hi Hassan,

I made some performance improvements in the script loading and memory usage. Would you like to try this beta v2.0.4 ?

    Thank you.

There were still a few bugs in the beta. Best to get the lastest build from github.

    Hi Tobias,

I updated to v2.1.0 and, to be honest, I really don’t feel any improvement in the performance. It still takes lots of time to save the settings after hitting the Update {Post Name} button.
