• Up until now have only done backups manually via FTP to my computer, I decided it was time to try to automate the process on a routine basis. After reading reviews and sorting through many offerings, I decided on the UpdraftPlus Backup plug-in, which appeared to offer many possibilities including cloud back-ups. Fearing that backing up to my server has its own risks, I decided on using Google Drive, which is supported.
The plug-in interface is excellent, but I advise anyone planning to go this route to familiarize themself with Google Drive documentation before installing the plug-in, which I had not done. Nevertheless after an error on my part entering an ID and preventing authorization, everything when well and the back up was very fast: less than 6 minutes for 60 MB … the way to go… 🙂

Experienced my first glitch after choosing to have 2 backup files, when I found that the second one was made immediately after the first, which wiped off the earlier back-up. After posting on support, an development version was made available within a few hours, which fixed the problem with the minimum of hassle. This has increased my already high satisfaction with this plug-in.
