[resolved] Vegas Slides suddenly stopped working (11 posts)

    Hi,
First, I want to say thanks for such a great plugin.
I have been using Vegas Slides for about 4 months now and it has been working great. Then, it suddenly stopped working. I tried changing the order of the slides, changing the delay time, etc, and can't get it to start working again.
My site is http://cugnoarchitecture.com/. I have it set to display only on the front page and am using a shortcode to display it there:
    [vegasslider id="368" fade="1000" delay="3000" title="Cugno Architecture" arrows="no" autoplay="yes"]
You will see that I have used another plugin, Fullscreen BG Image to cover the front page until I can get the slider working again.
    Any ideas on what happened?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I know I'm not supposed to post again, but I just got some essential info and I don't see a way to update my last post. I found out the client did an update to the slider and that's when it stopped working. I pulled out a backup of the site, and everything is working again, but slider is not updated. All other items are updated including WP, theme, and all other plugins.

If it is working now I'm going to suggest not updating. I'm working on another version that should address most if not all of the issues you were having. I'm going to mark this as resolved, but be sure to look out for version 1.4

Also I'm not sure if you're using this or not but take a look at http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/ it'll reduce image sizes which should help the images load faster, which is especially nice on an image heavy site like yours! Thanks Laura!

Thanks, James. I'll look out for 1.4. Much appreciated!

I've updated the plugin to version 1.4 which should fix some issues. I completely redid how the plugin saves options to comply with more standard practices, in other words it should work better now. :)

Now obviously I suggest backing up what you have now but if you would download the new version and let me know if you're still having issues I would really appreciate it!

Thanks Laura, have a good one.

Have you had a chance to try out 1.4? If so, is it working as you would expect it to?

    Hi,

thanks for a neat plugin. I had to revert to 1.3, as 1.4 refused to display any slides on latest WordPress. In addition, the Settings link on the plugins page claims I don't have sufficient access rights to Vegas slider settings (which work via Vegas Slides > Settings).

Jon, thank you so much! I had actually fixed those in my test environment but forgot to added it to the live version, totally my bad. Keep an eye out for version 1.5 I'll try to put it out today and it should take care of those issues. As far as it not displaying any slides, you will probably have to re-set all your options on the settings page since from 1.3 to 1.4 I reworked how the settings page saves options.

    Hi,

I still have the same issue in 1.5 and WP 3.7.1, Vegas slides are not displayed. I have reset the default settings but no effect. I'm calling the plugin with do_shortcode on a custom frontpage with custom header and footer. Reverted back to 1.3, which still works.
