    I think the documentation is bad, there is no indication on where to place the shortcode

    Sorry about that. I'll try to make it more clear when I get off work. You can place the shortcode in any page. That way if you want to use a different set of images for the background slider on another page you can do so.

    Were you having any other troubles with it?

    To further clarify... Here's a screenshot of exactly how I used it in my demo

    Hi James,
    Thank you for your swift reply. Not really used to that on these fora! Ok, I am trying to use the slider with the Blackbird theme. What if I want to use it on the homepage?

    Your code worked, thanks! Only thing.. I don't really like the content being mostly transparent. Any thoughts on that?

    Okay. For this Blackbird theme, I tested it out and I've got it to work. Now it really depends on where you want to put these sliders. If you want one on the home page you're going to need to go Appearance -> Editor and from there navigate to the front-page.php template on the right hand side.

    You'll see some code that looks like so:

    <?php
    /**
     * The template for displaying front page pages.
     *
     */
    ?>
    <?php get_header(); ?>

    Now's where you'll take the shortcode you want and place it inside

    <?php echo do_shortcode( '[SHORTCODE HERE]' ) ?>

    So it'll look similar to this:

    <?php echo do_shortcode( '[vegasslider id="5" fade="800" overlay="http://demo.jamesdbruner.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/az_subtle.png"]' ) ?>

    and just put that right underneath the <?php get_header(); ?> code

    final code

    <?php
    /**
     * The template for displaying front page pages.
     *
     */
    ?>
    <?php get_header(); ?>
    <?php echo do_shortcode( '[vegasslider id="5" fade="800" overlay="http://demo.jamesdbruner.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/az_subtle.png"]' ) ?>

    (naturally there's more code under this but this is all we have to deal with)

    That will put the vegas slider on your homepage. If you want the slide on your other pages you can just do as I instructed above by using the shortcode and putting it in the content editor :) I hope that helps and wasn't too confusing!

    Yeah, I agree. If you go to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Styling Options

    You can try adding this little bit of css code

    .content-bar {padding-left: 30px;}
    .page-content-container {background:white;}

    and that should add a white box around the content which makes it a lot easier to read and I think that looks a lot better on that particular theme.

    EDIT: This is only a fix for the internal pages and not the home page...

    Let me know if you need anything else :)

    You are a star! I will have a look tomorrow, almost midnight here in Holland. Have a great New Year, and I will let you know how this turns out.
    Thanks a million!

    Ciao,
    Helen

    I'm also trying to get your vegas slider to work on this site:
    http://www.primevolleyballclub.com/

    without luck though... I used the php echo do_shortcode method described above but still nothing...

    I'm using Pagelines Framework and opened the header.php file and place it here just after the closing header tag:

    <?php
    /*

    	HEADER

    	This file controls the HTML <head> and top graphical markup (including Navigation) for each page in your theme.
    	You can control what shows up where using WordPress and PageLines PHP conditionals

    	This theme copyright (C) 2008-2010 PageLines

    */
    	pagelines_register_hook('pagelines_before_html'); // Hook
    ?><!DOCTYPE html>
    <html <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <head>
    <?php

    		pagelines_register_hook('pagelines_head'); // Hook

    		wp_head(); // Hook (WordPress)

    ?></head>

    <?php echo do_shortcode('[vegasslider id="1013" fade="1000" overlay="http://www.primevolleyballclub.com/wp-content/plugins/vegas-background/overlays/04.png"]'); ?>

    <body <?php body_class( pagelines_body_classes() ); ?>>

    Hey phillipvr, I've got it to work in pagelines using the method you showed above... I just want to cover my bases.. Have you already tried using just the shortcode in the page?

    e.g. putting [vegasslider id="1013" fade="1000" overlay="http://www.primevolleyballclub.com/wp-content/plugins/vegas-background/overlays/04.png"] in the content of your home page

    If that doesn't help, maybe you could email me at james@jamesdbruner.com and I can try help you further.

    I figured it out. It came down to a simple url path error.. oops. I was making edits in the wrong header.php file.. duh

    Thanks anyway for the quick response and offer to help, and thanks for a great plugin!

    I had a few code questions outside of this specific topic if you don't mind contacting me at designpvr.at.gmail.com

    Thanks..

    Hi I am having a problem with the slider, it only appears when I'm logged into WordPress. And when we are not logged in, there is the following code where the slider should be:

    ] })('overlay', { src:'no' }) });

    Or similar. ] })('overlay', { src:'' }) });

    We are only using 'Twent Twelve' theme which is the basic wordpress theme.

    Is there an error with the shortcoding?

    [vegasslider id="52" fade="500" delay="4500" arrows="yes" autoplay="yes"]

    I dont think so?

    The url is http://nw.protomojo5.com.au

    Let me know your thoughts!

    I have the same problem. It appears when I'm not logged. I've tried with and without overlay and it still fails. I'm using the shortcode calling right on the head.php

    "] })('overlay', { src:'http://...png' }) });"

    I'm using the whole shortcode (as someone recommended):

    <?php echo do_shortcode( '[vegasslider id="4" arrows="yes" delay="10000" overlay="url-to-my-image" fade="1500" title=""]' ) ?>

    Odd, let me play around and see if I can recreate this. I'll be in touch.

    Ok, I found the problem and committed the changes to the repository so you should just have to deactivate then delete the plugin and download it again for it to work. All the slides you've created and settings you've saved should still be intact when you redownload the plugin because they're saved in your database. Let me know if that fixes it for you (it did for my test)

    hi, i have some problems too.
    i have a test page here http://www.lafacebstudio.com/studio/.

    i'm using shortcode [vegasslider id="106" fade="1000" delay="3000" overlay="my-image-overlay" title="" arrows="no" autoplay="yes"]

    log or unlog, it's not working but when i edit script in my browser with firebug, it's working ???

    if you have an idea, i appreciated.

    Make sure your header.php contains wp_head(); and your footer.php contains wp_footer();

    Try this. Add <?php wp_enqueue_script('jquery'); ?> before wp_head() in your header.php and let me know if that fixes it for you.

    it's all right for wp_head() and wp_footer.

    i try to put wp_enqueue_script('jquery'), but it's not working.

    Email me at jamesdbruner[at]gmail.com with your login information and I'll be glad to help you out but I'm fairly certain that this is theme specific so I'd like to be able to see what's going on in the theme and see if maybe something is conflicting or not being called.

    I am trying to implement using the Genesis Framework. When I select Global and add the 6 for the ID, the number disappears and will not save or implment.

    You want to email your sites login details (or create me a new one with administrator rights) so I can poke around and see what's going on? My email is jamesdbruner[at]gmail.com
