Variable default values in Contact Form 7 (5 posts)

    Hey everyone;
In one of the sites I'm using Contact Form 7 on,
the form is used to inquire about training classes that are being run.

There are a number of classes available, and sometimes the same class even gets run multiple times. Because of that, we currently have a drop-down on the form to allow the user to select which class they want to inquire about/sign-up for.

I would like to prevent the user from having to pick from a gigantic list of options like that... especially when the differences between the options can be very subtle. Ultimately, I'd like to (for instance) go to the page containing the contact form using some kind of variable in the URL that would determine what the default value of that field is going to be.

Does anybody know if this can be done?
And if so... is it easy to implement?

    Thanks in Advance

I actually just released a plugin extension for Contact Form 7 that I believe will provide the functionality you need - it's called Contact Form 7 Dynamic Text Extension. It allows you to use dynamic GET values from the URL - or any value generated via a shortcode. You can check it out here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-7-dynamic-text-extension/

    Good luck!

    Amazing!
That sounds like the kind of thing I was looking for.
I probably won't get a chance to try it out until Wednesday, but I most definitely will test drive it, and let you know if it does the trick.

    Thanks for the response.
    :o)

    Unfortunately sevespark,
your plugin will not even activate on my server.
After extracting the .zip file to the appropriate location,
browsing the inactive plugins from my wp-admin, and pressing the activate button beside your plugin, I'm left with a blank white screen. At that point in time, I can no longer access my wp-admin, and was forced to delete your plugin's subfolder. After deleting the subfolder, I once again have regained my wp-admin capabilities.

Above is a duplicate post. Please see http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-contact-form-7-dynamic-text-extension-cannot-activate-plugin for response to the last post.
