   Was just about to report the same thing :)

   Is it safe to just cut, or should it be replaced with something else?

   This validation error appears after this option is chosen:
   Change the display order of the CAPTCHA input field on the comment form.

   Justin_K, yes it is safe to cut it.
   The download does not have it anymore. so if you uninstall, reinstall it is gone.

   That setting is only needed in very old versions of WordPress I think.
