In order to see line 404, you need to “view source” in your browser, then copy the contents of the display into an editor which displays line numbers (such as notepad2 from http://www.flos-freeware.ch). The line numbering takes into account every “bit” of the conglomerate that is the wordpress displayed page, beginning with header.php, and which will usually include also sidebar.php, index.php, and footer.php.
Would this fix the problems i’m having with viewing my site in IE?

Yes, validating your site will probably fix your IE compatibility issues. At the very least, it will make the issues significantly easier to troubleshoot.

Hmm. I have a feeling though, that it’s something to do with my CSS and that’s why it isn’t aligning correctly.
Could someone please view my source code and see if they can help me at all? I’d really appreciate it 🙂
The validator is showing 140 errors. http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.lustless.org/index.php. It didn’t give me any indication that “it says it can’t because of an error on line 404” – it simply spit out 140 errors.
Get the most of that cleaned up and then see what it looks like….
I only have 33 errors left, none of which has fixed my error.
It looks fine in IE now, but i’m having problems with higher resolutions…the text jumps to the left when I have it in 1074×768, and it’s aligned correctly in 800×600.
*confused*

even though i’m sure the error is just something having to do with the way i entered values in my css?

I’m pretty sure that we have been through this before. As stated before, “Validating your site will probably fix your IE compatibility issues. At the very least, it will make the issues significantly easier to troubleshoot.” Now, you have 33 XHTML validation errors and 4 CSS validation errors. Please fix them.

If you want to start investigating and attempting to fix “something having to do with the way you entered values in your CSS”, feel free to go for it, but we really can’t help you until you bring your code up to standards.
I’m having trouble fixing the remaining 16 errors…
