I noticed that this topic came up here:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-tpg-get-posts-breaks-html-validation?replies=4

It seems like the validation issue was resolved almost a year ago, but when I go to validate my website, I'm still seeing the same div id being used multiple times, breaking my validation.

BTW, I love the plugin - very easy for a WordPress newbie to use, but I'm worried about the validation issue.

thanks for the reminder....This is a problem as the very design which allows the shortcode to be used multiple times on a page will create the duplicate ids.

The other problem is the plugin has been used in so many sites, I must maintain backwards compatibility.

I will look at this again. I will be pushing out an update by the end of August and will add this to the list of items to review.

I'm only running mine once on a page and it's still not validating. #tpg-gp-content-div occurs every time you call up a .tpg-get-posts-post. Couldn't you change #tpg-gp-content-div to .tpg-gp-content-div to fix that? I think that's all that's invalidating my home page. I can see there's a bigger problem with running the shortcode multiple times on a page.

As far as backwards compatibility, are you meaning you're worried that the css modifications people have made won't work anymore with a further update? I would think including a note in the update on what they need to do would be sufficient. Maybe you're referring to something else I don't know about/understand. Good luck!

I am looking at changing this with release 3.0, which should be out in August. It is a bit more involved as I don't want to break existing sites that might be using the div id to format the layout.

My approach is to push out release 2.5 which has a 'freeze' option so if a site has code which will be broken by the new release, the plugin can be told to ignore any updates.

I am changing and testing the ver 3.0 and will that will remove all references to divisions or make them unique, but not sure which way will be best.

If you are interested in a pre-release version to test on your site, contact me at webmaster - tpginc.net. I hope to have it working next week.
