Preference Lite
[resolved] Validating ? (4 posts)

I'm hoping to use Preference Lite to build a simple website...I've done blogs before, but am still fairly novice when it comes to setting things up with wordpress to look more like a business site than a blog. Because my blogs are mostly for me and I rarely make changes to the core code of the themes I choose, I don't typically worry about validating things. However, since this new site will be viewed by a much wider audience, I do want to make sure that it validates. I just activated Preference Lite and have added no content or made any changes to the code, but it comes up with a lot of errors when I check for validation. Do I need to worry about that?

I'm excited to work with this theme, and possibly upgrade to the Pro version as it seems to have many features that could benefit me, but I don't want to get too deep into it if it will cause me problems down the road.

Hi Jennzee...with what shows, you will be fine actually. It's going to be impossible to always have a valid site, especially once you start adding in plugins because they will affect validation in one way or another. The theme also uses CSS3 which the validator may or may not catch, but overall, you will be ok. When you start seeing 100's of errors show up, then it's time to be wary of validation.

Thank you! That's what I was hoping to hear...especially given that not even the themes made by wordpress validated completely when I check them. So excited to get started with this theme...it's perfect for what we need!

I can understand that... the thing to note is that validation is important, but not as it once was. What is important though is to make sure your website loads reasonably fast, and that you focus on the basics of seo (search engine optimization)...a whole other topic.
