    Hi,

I’ve just done an auto update from the wp dashboard to v3.7.1. and everything updated ok in the dashboard. When I tried to login back into the dashboard wp told me that the database needed updating so I said Continue and I got the successful database updated message and hit continue again expecting the dashboard to load BUT I got the first window saying the database needed updating again so I repeated the sequence and ended back at the start again.

So WP is stuck in a loop saying needs to update database and update successful and I can’t get into the dashboard anymore.

Any thoughts would be gratefully accepted as I have well over 3000 images on the website which have been fully catelogued and I can’t do anything with it 🙁 🙁

I did try renaming the plug-in folder via FTP and tried that but no change and when I renamed the plug-in folder back to the normal name it looks like all the plug-ins are still inactive and the database loop is still there 🙁

Previous updates have gone through without any issues

    best regards

update: talking with my hosting technical support my SQL database hit 150Mb during the WP upgrade which is the limit on the hosting package I have. I’ve requested an upgrade to give me a 500Mb database limit on the server which, fingers crossed, will resolve the issue.

When the upgrade is complete I’ll update the thread.

    regards

    Hope everything’s ok after that

    ok final update:

with the hosting package increased to unlimited storage and bandwidth and, more importantly, an increase in DB filesize limit to 500Mb all the issues have been resolved 🙂 The DB update completed successfully and I can access the dashboard to update some plug-ins for v3.7.1.

Life is good and WP is better lol

Akismet appeared to be the main issue, for some reason in October I got hit with over 40,000 spam comments. Akismet caught them but wasn’t deleting the spam comments quickly enough and they were retained in the DB causing it to grow at an alarming rate.

    regards
    Kev

    Glad you’re now sorted
