   OK, WP just keeps on upgrading and I haven't been able to do an auto upgrade on this install, since it went to 3.0.

   I know I must do a manual install,(sigh) but was intending to go from 2.9.2 straight to 3.0.3 and then pops up the new v 3.0.4.. so now I wonder if I need to incremental upgrades.. manually? And from which version ?

   You should be able to upgrade straight to 3.0.4 from 2.9.2 but do make a database backup first, deactivate all plugins and switch to the default theme before starting the upgrade process.
