Utterly Confused (3 posts)

Hi, I'm very new to WordPress. As I've been looking all over for answers to a few specific questions that I have to improve my blog, I realized that I may be missing some very key concepts about WordPress in general.

Could someone answer my questions? I'm extremely confused, and a bit... annoyed:

The idea of "installing WordPress." I don't recall installing anything to login to wordpress.com with my account. Why is there so much talk about installing it?

Plugins. Tutorials say that I need to download a plugin and then put a php file into the Plugins sidebar in my Dashboard, but I see none! Where is the sidebar?

Editing my Theme. I know the WordPress is very good for editing the program of a theme, but I can't for the life of me find a way to get to editing it on my Dashboard. Where can I do this?

Thank you so much for your help. My wordpress website is http://mythoughtsphere.wordpress.com/

This is WordPress.org forum for the self-hosted version of WordPress. You are using the pre-installed versione of WP on WordPress.com

WordPress.org gives you the possibility to download the CMS (PHP&MySQL) and setting up it on your server.

WordPress.org and WordPress.com are two different things :)

Oh ok, that clears one huge misunderstanding up. Thank you very much. I'll ask my questions on that forum then.
