Using WP with an existing, hand coded website?

Hello all,

I have a hand coded, CSS+XHTML website that I would like to add WordPress to. In other words, I don’t want to manage my “theme”/design through WordPress, but instead use tags and code within my existing .html pages to display WordPress posts, categories, etc.

Is there a starting place on the WordPress codex that covers this topic, or articles written by web designers on how they added WP to their website?

I’m really excited about using WP to add posts to my front page, so thanks in advance for any insight.
