• WordPress News in the Dashboard produces a pop-up with xx number of lines from the news article when the cursor goes over the link.

    How can I use that technology elsewhere on my site?

    Thanks, PD. That works fine for a few, but in a list of links I need something that’s automatic.

    You can add post_excerpt() into the title, to display a few of the post.
