Using WordPress as a news page editor?

Hey people,

Just downloaded wordpress, and so far am very impressed with the compatibility, useability and presentation of this software.

Theres just one problem though. I dont want a blog. Im not going to have a blog. I never did have a blog.

Im trying to use wordpress as a tool to edit/update the news section of my site. And probably a few other sections of it.

Naturally, wordpress’s page looks like a reply-able blog.
I want the page to be one big slab preferably, no links on the site, no header, no footer, no nothing, my php backbone will include just this slab in it’s designated div on the site.

Also, the leave a reply option is not needed. More precisly its needed to NOT be there. As the admin will be the only one writing ‘replies’ …
