using utf8 in site description doesn’t work

    Hi all,

    A friend of mine tries to create a Chinese blog using the latest WordPress 1.5 on my server where MySQL 4.1 with utf8 support is installed together with php 4.4.0.

    When he tries to insert Chinese character in the main title or when adding posts everything works smoothly. Only when he tries to do this with the site description the whole site turns blank. Western characters *do* work.

    Is anyone familiar with this problem?
