• I’ve been using WordPress SEO since before it was released … back in the BETA days many years ago. A great plugin since day one. I certainly wish Yoast and his team the best with it.

However, over the years I’ve seen it consume more and more server resources.

I know Yoast’s response to this “Get a better server.” Yep, no problem for one of two site. But if you have a few on a shared server that aren’t meant to generate income then it becomes financially unviable to upgrade hosting to a VPS or dedicated.

I know many sites do run Yoast SEO successfully on many scales. But on shared hosting for a few sites it just calling too many DB resources. I was quoted something like 285 the other day. Plugin-profiler has Yoast WordPress seo comsuming 85% of all plugins. I disabled the plugin, activate another SEO plugin and the problem was solved.

It’s a great shame as I’ve really enjoyed this plugin and participated in it’s growth. I don’t know what aspect of the plugin is consuming this much.

With a pro version available and this one I can only ask that in the future Yoast and team could create a simple “Lite” version that excludes what ever is consuming so much.

Again, I wish Yoast and the team the very best. But I have seen here and elsewhere more and more people run into this issue. 1.5 was meant to solve a lot. It didn’t for me.

Hopefully this can be resolved. Perhaps all the testing is being done on dedicated machines and not underpowered ones. Hence my call for a simply Lite version.
