Hello everyone. New to the forum but plan on using more for knowledge.
I have a article in the post section that is saved as a draft. I want to post the first 2 paragraphs on my front page. Can I use the more tag on that page to link to the article in the post section? If not how could you do it? Thanks

As long as your front page is showing your posts and it's not a static page yes you can.(otherwise it will show on your blog page, wherever that might be) Click wherever you want your paragraph to cutoff and add the more tag.

Thank you sir for the speedy reply. I checked it is not a static page and I inserted after the second paragraph. Then went to my main page and put the first 2 paragraphs and saved. It still didn't work? Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks

What do you mean by "Then went to my main page and put the first 2 paragraphs and saved."?

You do everything on the edit page, the more tag has an icon on the kitchen sink and once you position your cursor, you press it and it's done. Then you save and get out of there.

I did what you said the article is in the post section and saved as pending. Then I went to the pages and selected the page i want to use and inserted 2 paragraphs and the more tag right after them. Saved everything but no luck. To determine if I am using a static page for the post I went to the reading tab on the bottom left of the page and static was not checked. I hope u understand me now.

I'm confused. Are you trying to link a page to a post with more tag? you can't do that. More tag is used to show the rest of the hidden content of a post - the very same post.

You are not confused That is what I was trying to do. So I can't do that then. Is there any other options to link the article to a page? Or just do something different so I don't waste my time then. Thanks so much for the help. I am still learning.

Just link it the normal way.

At the end of the paragraph, write something like: "read more of this article" then highlight that. On the kitchen sink click on the link button and add the link to the post you want.
