[resolved] Using the More button (5 posts)

Hi. I have been trying to get the 'More' button to function. It inserts the tag in the HTML code and the word More appears in its box in the visual mode but it doesn't do what it should. All the text is apparent. Is this something that only works with particular themes?

    My website is at http://www.geneset.co.uk

and I have put the problem on my Home page and placed the More tag after the third paragraph but nothing happens.

the 'more tag' does not work in static pages.

what are you trying to achieve?

    Hi alchymyth.

I am trying to divide a long piece of text into a short section which displays at the beginning of the page and a longer section which displays after you click the More button.

You mentioned that it doesn't work on static pages so I changed it to 'Your latest posts' and it has made no difference. Does it work on posts and not on pages?

on pages (and posts), you could try to use <!--nextpage-->

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Styling_Page-Links

there is a plugin to add a <!--nextpage--> button to the post/page editor http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextpage-buttons/

    Hi alchymyth.

The <!--nextpage--> works fine. No problem. Thanks a lot.
