I am struggling with getting an .flv file to play using the little filmstrip button (insert embed media) when building my post. My flv file plays fine in Adobe Media Player and the flv is correctly uploaded to a video folder in wp-content/uploads/videos/myvideo.flv

whenever I try it and preview the post it just is a blank player with whatever background color I chose and dimensions I entered in the flash parameters. I'm doing everything correct I think but it almost seems there is a bug.

When I right click on the blank video area it says "Movie not loaded"

    help please.

i had the same troubles.... The "trick" is simple, but stupid:
you have to use a SWF file, not the FLV format.

FLV is the Flash Video format

SWF defines a Flash object which can contain different Flash integration like i.e. a flash video, but also other Flash objects.

I used the orginal Adobe Flash software to do so, but you might also use some other tools: https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=convert+flv+to+swf
