using template tags to extract posts between sites (11 posts)

Hi, I'm struggling with something and hope you folks might be able to help.

I have several wordpress sites on different urls and databases. I'd like to use some of site A's posts/pages on site B, C, and D pages, so that when I update that page on site A the update appears on the corresponding pages on sites B, C, and D, as well. This would be much faster and easier than updating the same page again and again.

I think template tags can be used for this but have no idea how to go about it. Can anyone help?

    Thank you,
    Melanie

Try using the RSS feeds for the different sites.

Thanks! How do I find a page's rss feed, and how to code it where I want to put it? Sorry, I have no clue how to do this, thanks!

See WordPress_Feeds for details of how to find the various feeds. You can add feeds to a site using the RSS widget in appearance->Widgets.

Thanks again. I don't think I was clear in my initial post. I don't want to add content to a sidebar, I'd like the link on a wordpress site (site A) to bring up page content from another site (site B) without linking to that site. So the page looks as if it belongs on site A, but the content is being pulled from site B.

I'm looking at the rss feeds and cannot figure out how to do this. But, thanks again for your input.

Who said anything about a sidebar? You can add a widget-ready area to any theme template file

You know, I do appreciate your help! But what you're advising is too advanced for me understand. I'm good with WordPress but have no clue how to do what you're suggesting. I need it spelled out, like put this code there, add that. I'm happy to learn but all these page references are just confusing me more.

Hopefully someone will post with very simple info. Thanks again.

What you're asking for is extremely complex. There is no simple way to do this.

Yes, I see that now LOL! I may have found a plugin to help out, it's WP-o-Matic. This combined with your feed info should hopefully do it.

Thanks again, enjoy your day! :)
