Using sessions in WP 2.1

    Is there a correct way to use sessions in conjunction with WordPress? I wrote a great shopping cart in PHP and want to run it on my WP site. I have the EXEC-PHP plugin working, but I cannot get sessions to work.

    Will it work by using custom page templates with their own header files? When I try to ad session_start() or the if session() function before the <Doctype tags I get a big fat error. Any ideas?
