using old database for new wp blog (2 posts)

Is it possible to create a new blog, and use the database that was created for an old blog?

I have broken my blog by moving the files, and now cannot load it, access it, or login.

I have installed a new wp blog, on the same domain, but different folder, and edited the config.php file to connect with the database I was using with the old blog.

The new blog opens at the home page, but the wp-admin redirects back to the home page, and all the links on the home page try to load the pages on the old blog.

    New blog: http://www.being-in-voice.com/newblog

Any advice most welcome. I have looked at the database, there doesn't seem to be anything there that limits it to a particular url.

    Hosting service is Bluehost.

  2. You've basically changed the URL, so you need to change all instances of that in the database, which are going to be in the options table and in post GUI data, as well as scattered in post content. See How to Move WordPress Blog to New Domain or Location ยป My Digital Life
