    I would like to move the arrows and have them appear outside the image/graphics. Everything works as it should but I cannot figure how to get them to move where I want them.
    Possible?
    Thanks
    Neil

    Hi Neil,

    We don't normally cover custom CSS modifications as free support. Even so, the navigation arrows are white, and the background is white so you'd not be able to see them if you moved them outside of the slideshow.

    If you just want to get rid of them, you can uncheck the 'navigation' checkbox in the slideshow settings.

    Regards,
    Tom

    Thanks for the get back Tom.
    I was actually hoping not only to move the arrows but replace the arrows with custom icons.
    If you are saying to accomplish this I have to go Pro for $19 no problem.
    I just couldn't find the code in the editor for doing this.
    For $19 if you point me there I can probably handle it myself.
    Just click the upgrade tag in the upper right corner and it will just add features?
    No adjustments to existing sliders?
    Thanks again Tom.

    Hi Neil,

    Meta Slider Pro will let you choose from around 16 pre-defined arrow styles and 7 or 8 colors (I can't remember exactly!), it will also let you specify the 'distance from edge' for the arrows too, although it won't let you specify a negative value for it (ie, outside of the slideshow). Once you've bought it, you install it just like any other plugin and your Meta Slider install will (magically) have all the extra features and your existing slideshows will just continue to work as they always did.

    However, by the sounds of it, it doesn't meet your needs, so don't worry about that - I'd only recommend if it its going to solve the problem for you. For us there's a fine balance between offering enough help to keep our free users happy and to ensure we still sell a few copies of the Pro plugin. It sounds cliché but our Pro customers really do fund the development of the free version!

    This is the CSS you'll need to add to your themes style.css file for Meta Slider to pick up your new arrow images and move them to outside of the slideshow:

    .metaslider .nivoSlider {
        overflow: visible;
    }

    .metaslider .theme-default a.nivo-nextNav {
        background-position: -30px 0;
        right: -40px;
    }

    .metaslider .theme-default a.nivo-prevNav {
        left: -40px;
    }

    .metaslider .theme-default .nivo-directionNav a {
        background-image: url('http://src.wpl.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/arrows.png');
    }

    Be sure to replace the URL in the last bit of CSS to point to your custom arrow images :)

    Regards,
    Tom.

    Can't thank you enough.
    Can't get it done today but will be upgrading and customizing tomorrow.
    My Daughter has the final say/approval on graphics and she is in the field today.
    It is, after all, Largess Forestry.
    LOL
    Thanks again.
    All the Best

    I have been tinkering around with the site and Meta Pro.
    I put the code you left for me in and it worked fine.
    It allowed me to put in custom arrows outside the graphics.
    Then I went to use the Pro addon controls and now the arrows are back inside and the slider is ignoring the code altogether.
    The arrows are the ones from the theme editor and there is no "get custom" setting.
    I put the code in my child theme for twenty eleven.
    Should it go elsewhere?
    I also would like to have the arrows remain on the page no appear by the cursor hover.
    You can just point me to the right code section to make the adjustments and I'll handle it if that's the best way for you.
    Sorry to be so needy.
    Thank you much
    Neil

    Hi Neil,

    The theme editor basically spits out custom CSS onto the page that overrides the default CSS, and it'll probably override the CSS I posted above too.

    If you could put your custom theme live again I'll take a look and send you back the new CSS (it will be pretty much the same, just with some more specific selectors).

    It would be great if we could move this conversation to our internal ticketing system (please email support [@] matchalabs.freshdesk.com) now you're a pro customer (thanks!) - this should keep the mods happy :)

    Regards,
    Tom.
