   Hello there,

   I am experienced with using wordpress for a single site on a single domain, however for the next project I am working on the client will require a consumer blog and a professonial blog,

   http://consumer.domain.com
   http://professional.domain.com

   What I am hoping is that with Multisite, if the client wants and article to be available to both the consumers and the professionals then then they only to post it in one place? Likewise they can choose which of there sites they post too?

   Is this what multisite is capable of and if not, what can I do with multisite?

   multisite is just like wordpress.com - it is for blog farming basically.
   what you want to achieve is not default behavior for multisite

   And the only way to do what you want is to install a multipost plugin or have the client use a desktop publisher that allows them to pick multiple blogs to post to.
