Using multisite but the new sites can be found by the server

hi – please help …

i want to use multisite – i have a current site using wordpress – i have brought 3 new domain names and pointed them towards my host and c panel.

i have managed to get the my sites button to appear on my wordpress editing area by following steps changing the php.config file and htaccess file

but i cant build the sites yet as the server cant find them –

i tried to install the sunrise plug in that allows you to have different domains but i dont have a folder called MS plugins i only have WP plug in folders in my c panel file manager.

so maybe i have not properly activated or installed multisite?

im very new to all this – i have been reading stuff all day and i would be soooo greatful for some help.

Don’t mess with separate domains until you’ve got basic Multisite Working 😉 Cart, then horse? No no, horse then cart.

Remove the sunrise plug stuff you put in, go back to basic Multisite.

1) Subdomain or subfolder install? (are your subsites domain.com/sitename or sitename.domain.com)

2) Did you update the .htaccess and wp-config.php ?

3) What error do you get when you go to the subsite?

i didnt put the sunrise folder into the file manager in c panel yet – its on my computer ready 🙂

i dont mind sub domain or sub folder if one is easier – but if not then i think i would prefer subfolder….

yes i have updated the .htaccess and wp-config.php files

when i click on the new site i created caveofmsyery it cant find it and this is what i find in the address bar http://www.webaddresshelp.bt.com/main?InterceptSource=0&ClientLocation=uk&ParticipantID=mg76cjr54t8kx45jjw4j4k9j5hsr5m26&FailureMode=1&SearchQuery=&FailedURI=http%3A%2F%2Fcaveofmystery.sustainablehealth.co.uk%2Fwp-admin%2F&AddInType=4&Version=2.1.8-1.90base&Referer=http%3A%2F%2Fsustainablehealth.co.uk%2F&Implementation=0

and i get this error message

my site is sustainablehealth.co.uk

so i can create new sites and i can get into info, , users, themes settings for my new site – but i cant get on to the new site like i can my original site?

Sorry, the website caveofmystery.sustainablehealth.co.uk cannot be found.

Okay that is not a mapped domain that is a sub-domain, and that’s okay! 😀

You can’t get there because you didn’t set up sub-domains on your server, that’s all. Do you know how to add wild-card subdomains? If not, you can ask your webhost. They usually have directions.

If your webhost doesn’t know, I’d be a little nervous in general.

it was working a min ago- he got it working – and now weirdly its stopped working – i was busy editing pages and then suddenly i couldn’t get on to any of my new sites –

if i edited the path in the net work admin sites menu – could i have messed it all up?

i really don’t know why i edited the path – i feel such a idiot – as i have now read that editing the path can cause the site not to work – it thre any thing i can do to solve my stupit stupid mistake -i did it to both my new sites –

i tryed deleting one of them and re creating it – but it ididnt work ….

*sigh* Yes.

Go into the Database and look for wp_blogs and make sure they’re corrected.
