Using JQuery to create a news ticker

Hi there.

My aim is to create a News Ticker using JQuery to scroll across the top of my static home page. I’m not sure how to call JQuery in order to make this happen. I found some help at http://www.jquerynewsticker.com/ but I have not been able to implement the instructions given.

I have put the following code into my home page (where I want the ticker to appear) in HTML view: http://pastebin.com/fcbJQZXk but no luck. Nothing shows.

I’m not sure if I should call JQuery that’s built into WP or use the Google libraries one (Note: I am using plugin “Use Google Libraries”)
