Using images from media library (200 of same image in media library!!)

    Hello,

    I am using wp version 3.5.1 and plugin version 2.2.

    I am in the process of adding listings (over 200).

    All these listing are to have a maximum of 3 images.
    When select to add an image, the only option is to upload a new image.

    Is there no way to add images from the media library?
    All the listings will have at least one image the same.

    Currently, I have added 20 listings and used one image for all listings. When I view the media library, the image has been uploaded each single time (20 times).

    Once I have added all 200 listings along with the same images, there will be 200 of the same images in the media library!

    Any help / suggestions much appreciated.

    So after speaking with my developer, this is a stickier issue than I anticipated.

    First, the main problem is that we allow editing by the user from the front end as well as the back end using the same mechanism. If we turned on full Media Library for the front end, this would allow users to start uploading, deleting and changing images on your entire site. That’s extremely bad by itself.

    But there’s a second issue, and that is listings “own” their images, so when you delete a listing, it cleans up the associated images. In that sense, you really want something to have it’s own copy of images otherwise cleaning up an image would be taking away something from another listing. And trying to manage “shared images” becomes really nasty and ripe for problems.

    So that’s why we can’t just use Media Library out of the box.

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    I understand why the media library was implemented like this.

    I am using the plugin where I am the sole administrator, I will be the only one to uploading images form the dashboard, not the customer.

    Is this something you can think about for future releases / updates?
