Pinterest Image Pinner From Collective Bias
[resolved] Using image ALT tag as description (11 posts)

    How hard would it be to use the ALT tag of the image as description.
    Or perhaps use the post title as description.
    This would make it a 1 click post and very handy.
    But even as it is, its the best pinterest plugin out there.
    thx

    Awesome Idea! I'll see when I can get it added... I'm thinking check for alt, if none then check for title, and if none then do what it does now.

    Bug - the description is not showing.
    The bug is in main.js line 63 (and also the same a few lines below)

    instead of:
    var description = jQuery(this).attr("alt");
    this should be used:
    var description = jQuery(this).prev("img").attr("alt");

    "this" is a link element and it does not have "alt" or "title".

    You are not allowed to leave bugs like this in you updates anymore!!! ;)
    They cost me some embarrassment with my clients.

    Feature suggestion (along the lines of the original thread poster):
    1. in settings add "default" description field and use it when "alt" or "title" are missing or empty.
    2. in settings let the user specify where to take the description from - "alt", "title", "post title" or "default"

    Hello,
    Thanks so much for the plugin, really appreciated by many people, I'm sure. I have one issue - I've used the selectors and the Pinterest button is showing up where I want it - but when I pin an image, the Pinterest plugin window is showing up blank and not picking up an image. My theme is using something called Flexslider for the portfolio images, so it could be something to do with that. Any ideas?

    Thank you again,
    Emma

    hey vitalvital, I just caught your post.

    I'll release something with your fix in it, but it might be a bit before I can add the enhancements.

    Sorry for the embarrassment,you can pay me half what you paid me for the last one 8^p

    I'm working on a fix for both of your issues right now.

    Hi Chris,
    Thank you very much for that - I got rid of it - crawled all my functions, switched permalinks, checked plugins, none of that helped. Switched my theme a few times and it disappeared. I have no idea how. And that's why I'm not a PHP developer..
    Plugin works perfectly now
