WordPress MU Domain Mapping
Using Domain mapping and keep sub-directory (2 posts)

I want to use one WP network install for all of our newspapers blogs and keep the newspapers domains and add the sub-directory for the blog (because we use the sub-directory today, but with a separate WP installation for each newspaper).

For example, the main WP installation have the domain http://blog.maindomain.se, and I want to add the sub-blog named http://blog.maindomain.se/xxfootball or http://xxfootball.blog.maindomain.se (whatever is the best).
I also want to add the sub-blog named http://blog.maindomain.se/yyfootball or http://yyfootball.blog.maindomain.se for another newspaper.

Is it possible to use Domain mapping to map the first sub-blog to the name
    http://blog.xx-newspaperdomain.se/football
    and the second sub-blog to
    http://blog.yy-newspaperdomain.se/football

If that is the case, how do I do it in the best possible way?? Or do I have to use sub-domain with a separate DNS entry for each blog (I would rather not use this...), for example
    http://football.blog.xx-newspaperdomain.se
    and
    http://football.blog.yy-newspaperdomain.se

You can't use domain mapping for what you are trying to do. You will have to go the subdomain route.
