I have recently installed and activated BPS in my wordpress site on a localhost. The security status panel settings were completely green. Then I updated to WP 3.6.1. Should my wordpress version and theme information be visible at all, i.e. in any footer or viewed from the page source? Perhaps I am mistaken, but I thought that part of BPS hid the WordPress version and the theme information. Do I need to rerun the magic bulletproofing procedures? Or do I still need to hide this information, manually or with another plugin?- Thanks, Sassinak

The hide WordPress feature is a very old feature in BPS that is pending removal. It is impossible to hide the WordPress version. It is impossible to hide the fact that you have a WordPress site. WordPress is very secure so there is no reason to try and hide the version.

There are a lot of plugins that claim to hide the WordPress version, but that is just not possible to do. A plugin may hide the WordPress version in one way or a couple of ways, but there are literally dozens of different ways to get the WordPress version. It is impossible to hide the WordPress version and totally unnecessary as well.

The myth about hiding the WordPress verion as being a valid security measure might have been a little valid prior to WordPress 3.0, but it is now just bad information.

I assume this answered all of your questions? If not, then please post any additional questions you might have. Thank you.
