Is there any way so users can set their own password while registrating instead of emailing them an auto generated one? There are pros and cons on this, but i think letting WP admins to choose would be nice. I couldnt find any info regarding this on the forums or the codex.

Sure, disable the ability for them to register and have them send a request to the admin who can then add them. The whole point of self registering is not to involve the admin, but since you are anyway...

uhm, that doesnt make too many sense. a valid option should be that users enter their own password, hidden and personal. just like any forums where you register and provide your own password. someone who's on several forums/blogs usually use the same username and password. getting the password sent by mail, then login and change it's like too may steps. WP could offer this option, or even a plugin? im not php skilled, otherwise i'll do it... but it should be as easy as adding the password and pass confirmation field and setting it internally for that user?

Probably nobody is really interested in this. Anyway, users can change their generated password during the first login. So, I don't see what's the big deal about it?

personally, i think it's kinda weird not allowing users to set their own password. i've got the comment from ppl on my blog that the password thingie is kinda complicated. i know it's easy, but you gotta think about your target audience in some blogs... not "experienced" users, even if this is easy. anyway, why not leaving all the options available? auto generated password, user entered password... just like almost any site that needs registration does. it's not like im bitching about this, just contributing to make WP more complete for any type for user :)
