I'm using wordpress 3.0 and Simple:Press 4.3.1 and I just set up the forum on my blog [seen here]. When I register as a new user, it looks like it goes through alright, but the email never sends.
I tested the forgot password function (I typed in the username of one of the accounts that didn't get the email), and it gives the the following error message:
The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…
Any advice?
if the error is correct, you may need this plugin
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/

I installed the plugin with all the correct STMP settings, but when I send an email, I recieve the following error:
SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

have you talked to your host about either of these errors?
