If you have the Pro version, this may be one of those issues that you should open a support ticket with s2member about.

Here’s a combination that I found functional, and could potentially help conversions. PayPal has a checkout option called Express Checkout. s2member pro supports this. It doesn’t require any extra setup fees. You just need to upgrade your regular paypal account to a business account, which is free.

With Express Checkout, the registration form is displayed instead of a simple paypal button. USers register on your site first, then they click the paypal button where they’re redirected to make payment directly on paypal’s site. Once payment is made they’re redirected back to your site with their registration already having been completed. They’ll just have to login with the username/passport credentials they’ve already chosen.

With your current setup, you may have users wondering why their account isn’t being created before or during checkout. This could alleviate the confusion and get your accounts properly registered.

Of course, this all assumes you have s2member pro and can setup your paypal account for Express Checkout.
