  • I’m putting in some domain authentication and need to use backslashes in the user name… but it doesn’t work.

The only way I can get round it is to put a filter in to change backslashes to hyphens and to hack wp-login not to show the userid when it comes back up.

This is not ideal anyhow as one of the domains uses a hyphen in an adin account I need to hook up, but I can patch it.

I cannot just remove the backslash and only user the userid as the names are not unique accross domains.

While I am not overly fussed how the data is handled internally, I am fussed that I have had to hack the wp-login file and that the user would not see their username correctly without it.

How can I safely create and validate users with backslashes?
