• I’ve fooled around quite a bit with both of these plugins. The problem I’m having is that when I restrict users to only post in certain categories, they are unable to view ANY categories besides the ones they can post in, AND only when loggin in. Anonymous users can view all posts. I’ve tried many combinations, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone know the solution? OR
Has anyone found a better way of restriction which categories users can post in, but allow them to view all content. thx in advanced

  • Isn’t Limit Categories (you should be able to find it at Plugins > Restriction) doing just that? = limiting where they can publish posts but not affecting the viewing capabilities?

I thought it was interesting that I looked over it awhile back, then remembered why. I wanted the ability to set individual user settings. I’m building a community based site with many different features. One being the ability to create a group and give the ability to have members to each group. So the UserExtra plugin is more for what I need, but the author seems to be unreachable.

    Any other suggestion?

If you use 2.0.2 you could try the Role Manager plugin.

It does set limits, but even matched with Page Restrictions and a couple others still doesn’t quite achieve the effect I’m looking for. I appreciate the effort, but I really need the ability to modify each user’s restrictions individually.

    Then write a plugin 🙂 or a cms… or… I don’t know.

CMS… done. Beta testing it right now. :p
