On the bottom of the plugin settings page (Dashboard > Settings > Email Users) it provides a list of the capabilities which Email Users makes use of. If you use another plugin which does capability management you can use the capabilities to grant permissions to users without having to assign them as an Editor or Admin.

Email Users itself does not provide capability management nor is it ever planned.

I user the User Role Manager, and I see the ability to remove the capability to email_single_user. However, when I remove this the Email Users dashboard menu option does not get removed for users and they can still email other users.

Is this the setting you are talking about?

I’ve had a check and it seems that this plugin does add these additional Email_ options, but as I say removing the option from the role does not stop it from working so it looks like the plugin is not checking it’s own role capability mapping.

I will try and look at this later today, it has been a while since I’ve looked into roles and permissions.

I had some time to look at this over the weekend and as near as I can tell, it is working correctly. When I remove the Email Single User capability from the Subscriber role, a regular user no longer has access to the Email Users menu.

Where are you seeing it continue to work?

I just re-enabled the plugin and removed the user ability and it worked this time. I’ll take a look at it on my live site later and get back to you

I just reinstalled it on my main site and it works, sorry if I wasted your time, must have been a glitch.

    Ok, marking it as resolved.
