I am testing the plugin on WordPress 3.9.1 and I have the system payment gateway set to Testing Only. I have one paid membership level on a yearly subscription defined. This is the behavior I am seeing.

    1. user who is not logged in to wordpress and does not have a wordpress account, navigates to http://testsite.com/membership-account/membership-levels/

    2. user fills out all information for the paid membership and submits.

    3. User is logged into the system but a paid membership account is not created.

    4. Once logged into wordpress, user has to fill out the same form again for the paid membership.

    5. user is then granted a 1 year membership with receipt.

Is this normal behavior? Does a user have to be signed up to my wordpress site before being able to pay for a membership? Why, when the user fills out the payment form once is the user granted access to the site then asked to fill out the form again to pay and receive their membership? Is this because I have the payment gateway set to test?

I would really like to get a handle on what is happening here. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Hey Bob,

No, this does not sound like normal behavior. There is most likely an issue somewhere with your payment gateway. Which gateway are you using?

    Thanks,

Right now it is set to the Test Gateway. I am happy to hear that this is non-standard behavior and was hoping that it was due to the fact that it is set to the Test Gateway or a plugin conflict. I really want to use this in my project.

Thank you for getting back to me.

Unfortunately I’m not able to access your membership levels page so I can’t really see what’s going on at the moment.

If you’re on Testing Only, you should have no problem. Make sure you’re on the latest version of the plugin (1.7.11 right now).
Do you have any addons/custom code installed? If so, you could try deactivating your plugins one by one and/or switching to a default WordPress theme such as twentyfourteen to try to isolate the problem.

If you want, we can also log in to your site and take a look and see what might be going wrong if you become a PMPro member and post on the member support forums.

    messica,

Thank you for getting back to me. The client has asked me to lock down the project using an .htaccess block since they are still in development and have an existing live site.

I was able to discover that a conflict existed with the s8-custom-login-and-registration.0.8.7 plugin. I had been doing some reading and found this somewhere on the web and disabled the plugin and re-tested the membership pro signup process. It eliminated the problem for me.

Thank you, once again, for a great product and for taking the time to answer questions here.

    Regards,

    Bob Cristello

No problem, glad to hear that worked out for you! I’m going to close this now, but if you have any other issues, let us know!
