User only downloadable files (3 posts)

I'm a newbie at WordPress so maybe I missed this lesson. Some of my blog is available to registered users only, including a page that has links to downloadable pdf and word documents.

I secured the page by adding php code as described in Members only sections

This works fine, but if the file URL is entered directly in the browser, it can be downloaded. How do I make the file secure, and accessible only through the registered user page?

I put the files in public_html/wp_content/uploads folder. Is that correct?

I am still trying to find out if this there a way to do this. Do I need a plug in that will secure my downloadable files? I was hoping to just be able to ftp files, and not have to put them in a database...

    Any ideas appreciated.

I have researched this all night and hit dead ends with various plug ins. Maybe you can get Drain-Hole working.

The plug in I got to work is Download Monitor. You can make files member-only protected, but not member specific.

    Hope this helps!
