I'm not sure if this is beyond the scope of these forums, but I've gotten such great help on here before that I thought I'd at least ask.

Basically I want to create a very simple system in which a registered user of my WordPress site can check some boxes on the home page to select what content is shown every time he logs in. Sort of like how Google News lets you display which sections you want to see on the page.

In other words, user A selects categories 1, 2 and 4. Every time he logs in, he sees a list of items from categories 1, 2 and 4. They don't have to be WordPress categories; they could just be lumps of text or RSS feeds.

Anyway, I was hoping someone could at least point me in the right direction for this sort of thing. Thanks so much.

I guess what I'm looking for is something like this:

but with settings that are retained when the user logs in.

I'm bumping this, because I think it would be really awesome to have something like that on wordpress.
