If you're using a Mac, thrivelivestyle, and you are getting the SSL error, please see this thread over at this site:
    http://old.nabble.com/SCPlugin-giving-the-message-%22Server-certificate-verification-failed%3A--certificate-issued-for-a-different-hostname,-issuer-is-not-trusted%22-on-first--checkout-td25809151.html

    (longest url ever?)

    Or, just do this:
    Open Terminal
    Type in: /usr/local/bin/svn ls https://......
It will ask you if you want to temporarily or permanently accept the "fishy" SSL. Type 'p' for permanent. Then go back to the checkout process from the SCplugin menu and complete your data transfer as outlined previously in this thread. Hope this helps. Sorry it's a month down the line.

I had some trouble using TortoiseSVN, but I have a site mirroring program called HTTrack .

I just gave it the URL:
https://wpcom-themes.svn.automattic.com/forever/ and it saved all the files and folders for me. I did this for 3 themes at once, since I couldn't choose.

Thought this might save someone some grief :)

I would also like to switch to the Forever theme but I lack the confidence to install it myself using the instructions in this thread (I'm a MAC user).

How would a person go about requesting that this theme (or any theme for that matter) be added to the WordPress.org Theme Directory?

    OMG!

This was completely boggling my mind. I am like the above member, and had only heard of svns yesterday.

Here is a VERY SIMPLE way to use svn with a mac and the link to forever provided without using ANY other apps.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oIKUR7_L90

    1) Open Finder
    2) Go to Go on the Bar at the top
    3) Select connect to Server
    4) Paste the URL for the SVN forever files
    5) Select Guest
    6) The file uploads to your computer
    7) In the video it uploads to a neat file that's compressible, but on my computer it uploaded to a shared file that I couldn't compress here's what i did:
    8) I selected all the files in the shared folder, copied and pasted them to a new folder i made on my desktop
    9) then I compressed and uploaded the zip file to wordpress
and wallah it just uploaded perfectly. I was shocked to see that it was installed properly.

    yeah!

Many, many thanks to VModarelli for laying out the groundwork for my uploading of the Forever theme to my self-hosted website.

    Cheers!
